Welcome to ColdWater Canoe, located in the heart of Eastern Canada, where you’ll find a rich landscape of rivers, lakes, the magnificent Great Lakes, and the Atlantic Ocean. Canoeing is a beloved part of the Canadian tapestry and a cauldron of competitive sport. Our vast river, lake, and ocean waterways offer an unending variety of paddling challenges. The indigenous communities of Canada have a long history of opening this immense landscape with canoes and watercraft expertise. Canoeing is a fundamental element of our heritage.
History
Ozone Canada is represented by Don Irvine of Hanahou Paddlesport and Trevor Woodside of ColdWater Canoe. While being notable figures in the Canadian canoeing community Don and Trevor are best of friends spanning many decades. Mike Giblin, founder of Ozone and Don have cultured outrigger canoe paddling in Western Canada, together they have worked with and mentored Trevor to grow the sport of outrigger canoe paddling in eastern Canada.
Trevor Woodside is a multiple times world champion competing at national and international levels. He has raced at World Championships, North American Championships, and Canadian Championships and has represented Canada internationally many times enjoying a storied history of wins and near misses on water bodies around the world. ColdWater Canoe is run and operated by Trevor Woodside and Michelle Lavoie. Michelle is a highly decorated World Champion canoe competitor and coach. Trevor and Michelle’s love for paddling, ability to train others, and focus on safety, technique, and team-building have greatly influenced the growth of canoeing in Canada.
Mission
The mission for ColdWater Canoe is to provide Eastern Canada’s paddling community with top-quality outrigger canoes, surf skis, paddles, and paddling ohana fostering a sense of community and inclusivity. Our focus is to help paddlers new and grizzled find the best canoe, surf ski, paddle or morsel of support to suit their needs. The vision for ColdWater Canoe is to support the growth of canoeing in Eastern Canada through canoe clubs, coaching, event organization, athlete education, and access to the world’s best quality outrigger canoes, OC1, OC2, OC6, Surfski, paddles, accessories, and advice.
Team
We are grateful to have a strong and seasoned team working with sales and customer support across eastern Canada. In Toronto we have Louis Low and Blake Hara who embody years of canoe expertise, experience, and success at international venues.
Lou and Blake come to the outrigger family from both highly successful Sprint and Dragon Boat roots offering on water prowess and seasoned coaching skills. Together they have greatly expanded the canoe community in Toronto and surrounding areas. In Halifax we have Albert Mcdonald who boasts a highly successful sprint canoe and dragon boat history along with extensive, extraordinarily respected coaching experience.
We are dedicated to spreading the joys of paddling and offer consultation services for those interested in learning more about outrigger canoeing, as well as demo opportunities for individuals and canoe clubs. Our service, sales, and support regions include Winnipeg to Thunderbay, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax, covering all of Eastern Canada.
